Around the world

Duo for flute and guitar  -  Johan Kvandal

L’Aube enchantée  -  Ravi Shankar

Towards the sea  -  Toru Takemitsu

Histoire du tango  -  Astor Piazzolla

This program consists of composers from the 20th century that where all deeply inspired by their own cultural heritage. The listener is guided as traveler around the world.

Musically the program has a nice effect. The liveliness of the Norwegian music by Kvandal and the passionate music by Piazzolla surrounds the more meditative and mysterious Indian and Japanese music by Shankar and Takemitsu.

The program suits well as a one part concert without break. The timing is approximately 55 minutes.

Another pieces that would fit is Robert Beaser’s Mountain songs, an American folksong inspired piece in seven mouvements.

This program is an audience friendly program. There is an ever growing demand for cultur in institutions. We made this program to meet this demand. With a shorter program and no "unwanted places for applaus", combined with some well known classics this program will suit for well for untrained listeners of classical music. At the same time it holds a high artistic level and gives just as much satisfaction to the well trained ear.

Baroque music and Tango where both very free styles that where open for improvisation. We both studied baroque music on a high level and we have a passion for tango. The music spans from lively tango rythms to dreaming baroque masterpieces.
